For the beginner acrobat, simply learning to roll properly can help prevent injuries. For an athlete and dancer bpa’s Acrobatics class builds strength. It will also improve your agility and flexibility. You’ll gain power, dexterity, and coordination.
In bpa’s Acrobatics class there is strong emphasis on the proper warm up. The warm up includes an array of body strengthening exercises. The stronger the acrobat the fewer the injuries. The Acrobatics-class warm up will also include quite a bit of stretching. This will improve flexibility. We will also focus on body posture and poise.
The beginning student will learn basic movements as the forward roll. They will quickly progress to the backward roll. Then they will learn the proper way to backbend. And then move on to cartwheels. They will perfect the bridge or backbend, and the crabwalk. As the student advances in this Acrobatics-class they will progress to round offs. Then they will master the front and back walkover. They will work on one handed cartwheels and eventually graduate to aerials. The advanced students will work on front and back handsprings, front and back tucks, pikes and layouts.
